About this game: PAPER FLIGHT '96

Game version: 1.0.12

Fold it. Throw it. Ride the air.

A paper airplane game you play online, in the browser. Aim, charge the throw and let go, then guide the plane with small corrections while real lift, drag and stalls do the rest. Ride warm air off the radiators, slip through a fan's stream, thread the hoops, collect stamps and land softly for the best score. Six folds that fly differently, endless distance, challenges and a daily flight.

Play nowThe game runs in your browser with JavaScript and WebGL 2 enabled.

What you get

  • A real throw: aim with a drag or the keys, hold to charge, let go. Too hard and too steep and the paper climbs, stalls and drops; the best throw is rarely the hardest one
  • Light, believable flight physics: lift, drag, a stall you can feel coming and recover from, ground effect on the landing, and a nose the air keeps pointing into the wind
  • Air you can see and use: warm air rising off radiators, fans that sweep their stream across a room, downdrafts under ceiling fans and draughts from old window frames
  • Every flight is scored: distance, time, stamps, near misses, hoops, rides on rising air, a combo that rewards chaining them, and a landing graded from crash to perfect

Before you play

How do I make the paper plane fly further?

Throw it at a gentle angle with a bit more than half power, then leave it alone more than you think. A paper plane glides best at its own trimmed speed: pull the nose up only to stretch a glide, and lower it the moment it starts to wobble, because that wobble is a stall coming. Rising air near radiators and in front of fans carries it much further.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes. The whole game is played with one finger: drag to aim, hold to charge, release to throw, then drag gently to steer. It runs in the browser on recent phones and tablets, best held sideways.

What are the different planes for?

Each fold flies differently. The Classic is balanced, the Wide Wing is slow and forgiving, the Dart wants a hard throw and then goes far, the Glider rides rising air best, the Heavy Nose keeps its speed through rough air, and the Experimental turns sharpest and forgives least. You open them by flying.
