This notice is provided for transparency and is pending legal review. It describes only what the site does today and may be updated before it becomes a formal policy.

GoPlayCenter is a collection of browser games. Every game can be played without an account; Arcade Quest needs one. This page explains, in plain language, what data the site touches.

Settings, favorites and game progress are local. An account stores statistics and Arcade Quest results; public score boards operate separately.

Newsletter signup

If you choose to send the newsletter form, your email address goes to our server. Our SMTP mail service sends you a welcome message and notifies the operator, passing along your email, IP address when available, and submission time so they can handle your request.

Cookie and consent choice

Your privacy settings are saved in your browser, alongside language and theme. Signing in uses an essential session cookie. The site does not use advertising tracking. Your browser sends page speed and stability measurements, the page address and connection type to our server. While a page is open, it also tells our server every half minute which game is open, if any, under a random number made for that visit alone, so we can count how many people are playing right now; only hourly and daily totals are kept. The measurement log does not store IP addresses, cookies or browser details; confidential identifiers are removed from quest invitation and session addresses. A public profile address contains the player name, which may appear in this log.

Gameplay progress

Progress, records, favorites and preferences are saved locally in your browser. An account does not transfer these saves between devices. When signed in, the server also keeps completed-game statistics and Arcade Quest results, described below.

Speedrun boards and shared roads

Public score boards operate separately from account statistics. Six games have their own online boards: TRAPDOOR 95, HOOKLINE '88, JUNKYARD '86, SUN KEY 1989, Neon Highway and the AVALANCHE '97 Daily board. A result appears on a public board only when you choose to submit it. The submission contains the name you enter, game, level, route or day, time, score or distance, and run measurements and verification data. Our server stores these submissions; the name and result are shown publicly. Some games request a server ticket when a run starts. Choose a name you want to publish. AVALANCHE '97 also lets you choose to share a ghost: the run recording, mode, course variant, distance, time, completion status and optional name go to our server. Anyone with the link can retrieve and race this recording for 30 days. Neon Highway's shared road sends your car's position to the server while you drive so other drivers can see you in traffic; it is not stored. We do not link these board, ghost or shared-road data to an account, email address or cookie.

Player accounts

An account is optional and is needed only for Arcade Quest. It keeps your player name; your password as a salted scrypt hash, never the password itself; when the account was made, last signed in to and last changed; and the statistics of the games and quests you finish while signed in (runs counted, wins, best score and time, time played, quest results), from which your rank is worked out. There is no email address. To slow down password guessing and mass sign-ups, the server keeps short-lived counters under a keyed hash of the address and the name tried, never the address or the name itself.

Your profile is public: anybody can open it and see your player name, rank, when you joined, how many games you have played, your quest record and your statistics per game. Profiles are not offered to search engines. Choose a player name you are happy to show.

You can delete your account at any time on your Account page, by entering your password. Your account, its sessions, statistics and runs are removed at once, and in past quest results your name is replaced by Former player. A forgotten password is reset by an administrator on request.

Signing in sets one cookie, gpc_player, which holds a random session key. It is strictly necessary for an account to work, so it is not part of the consent choice: scripts on the page cannot read it, it is sent only to this site's own API, and it ends when you sign out, after 30 days unused, or after 90 days at most. It does not track you.
